Collaborative Study for the Establishment of Three Product Specific European Pharmacopoeia Biological Reference Preparations for Inactivated Adsorbed Hepatitis a Vaccines

چکیده
Hepatitis A vaccines prepared by formalin inactivation of purified cell-culture grown hepatitis A virus are licensed in several European countries. The potencies of these vaccines are expressed in units unique to each manufacturer. Standardisation of potency statements requires establishment of an international reference material. At its 1999 meeting, the ECBS(2) established a preparation coded 95/500 as the 1st IS for hepatitis A vaccine, inactivated.

The development and validation of suitable alternatives for the replacement of in vivo challenge testing in the evaluation of vaccines is an important goal for national authorities and manufacturers involved in the assessment of quality, safety and efficacy of such products. To that end, 13 laboratories from 9 European countries, including 5 manufacturers, 7 authorities and EDQM3, have taken pa...
متن کاملFiber gene based molecular and biological characterization of hydropericardium-hepatitis syndrome associated avian adenoviruses
This study was designed to perform biological and molecular characterization of avian adenoviruses (AAVs) recovered from suspected cases of hydropericardium-hepatitis syndrome (HHS) in commercial poultry. Initially the samples were screened by Agar Gel Precipitation Test (AGPT) for the presence of AAVs followed by its confirmation and typing through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) focusing on a...
متن کاملCase study of development, validation, and acceptance of a non- animal method for assessing veterinary vaccine potency
This paper describes the development of an in vitro assay to replace in vivo potency testing for the batch release of inactivated Newcastle Disease virus vaccines. The assay involves the extraction of inactivated antigen from oil emulsion vaccines, the most common adjuvant for poultry vaccines. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is used to quantify the hemagglutininneuraminidase (HN) ...
متن کاملCollaborative study for validation of a serological potency assay for rabies vaccine (inactivated) for veterinary use.
European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) monograph 0451 on Rabies vaccine (inactivated) for veterinary use describes an in vivo batch potency test that is based on the NIH test. This assay uses a large number of mice and results in a significant degree of suffering. In the interest of replacement, reduction and refinement of animal tests (3R) a serological potency assay for Rabies vaccine (inactivated...

Background: Aluminum salts are common adjuvants in human and animal vaccine preparations. The two adjuvants aluminum phosphate and aluminum hydroxide show acceptable immunoadjuvant properties with many antigens. These two salts have different physicochemical characteristics that make each one suitable for certain antigens. The surface antigen of Hepatitis B (HBsAg) has several antigenic epitope...
